Blackwell’s Adisyn Peetoom – Athlete Spotlight Presented by BancFirst Blackwell

By Derrick Smith

When we see athletes competing at a high level, we know that they did not just show up one day to compete. There were years of dedication and practice in order to prepare themselves for the competition. The same is true for high school athletes like Adisyn Peetoom.

“I have put in a lot of hard work to get where I am today,” she said. “I have also had to be dedicated to my sport. That means practicing and working hard, even when no one is watching.”

Peetoom is a freshman at Blackwell High School. She pitches and plays middle infielder and outfield for the softball team. She has played the game of softball for about ten years and still loves the game as much as she did when she first started.

She has had different people that have impacted her life over the span of her career.

“My mom and my coaches have been the biggest role models for my life,” she said. “They always push me to work hard and be a better athlete and person. Also, Mrs. Candi Holt, who taught me to set goals and work hard to reach them.”

Throughout her years of playing softball, Adisyn has made a lot of great memories with her teammates. While there are plenty to choose from, she says that her favorite memory is one that she achieved with her club team.

“I have played club softball for three years,” she said. “We played in the national tournament in Gulf Shores, Alabama. We ended up finishing in second place, which was really awesome in a nationwide tournament. Plus we also made some great memories off the field too.”

Outside of athletics, Petoom is also involved in the Future Farmers of America program. She is also a member of the youth group at her church, Immanuel Baptist Church in Blackwell.
