Cleveland’s Hallie Horine – FFA Spotlight Presented by Ok Ag Credit

Hallie Horine is a sophomore at Cleveland High School where she is a member of the varsity softball team and the FFA chapter at school.

Horine got her start in Ag when she was just nine years old.

“I first got involved with Ag when I was nine and started showing hogs in my local 4-H Club,” said Horine. “My dad showed hogs in high school, and he wanted me to try it as well. My Ag teacher Mr. Fuss and his assistant Clayton Weatherly have always been great to help us find good animals and give advice when we need it.”

Being around animals is where Horine is most comfortable. Showing hogs and other livestock is what she enjoys most about being in FFA.

“I enjoy showing my steers, judging contest, and all of the leadership opportunities,” said Horine. “I show steers, am a member on the judging team, and I am also the chapter Parliamentarian.”

The Parliamentarian serves as an advisor to the chapter President and other officers in the chapter. Horine is responsible for keeping in her possession a copy of the Rules of Order, the Constitution, and the By-Laws.

Presently Horine has two steers she is showing, one for Kansas City and one she hopes to take to OYE (Oklahoma Youth Expo).
Horine is the starting catcher for the softball team, but her involvement in other activities does not stop there.
“I play soccer, throw in track, am a wrestling manager, and active in Student Council,” said Horine. “I love being around my team and the memories we make. I love how my teammates are always there to pick each other up and cheer each other on if we need an extra boost.” Horine said her mother has been a big influence in her life.
“My mom is always encouraging me to be my best and is there in my corner when I need her. Whether it’s being at the barn early in the morning to late at night or looking over a speech for me, she is always there.”
