Carney Lady Bulldogs Basketball Preview – Presented By Thompson’s AFR Insurance

GIRLS
Coach: Breeanna VanBuskirk
20-21 Record: 11-8

The Lady Bulldogs have a great outlook on this upcoming season, and they are ready to better last year’s first-round playoff exit. Third-year head coach Breeanna VanBuskirk knows her team is built to make some noise in the post-season. “We have five returning starters from last season’s team,” VanBuskirk said. “They are all hard workers and will be great examples for the rest of the team. Also, we have great leadership from our seniors.” Senior point guard Emma Hubach (5-5) is a great ball-handler that loves to get to the rim and scored around 300 points last season. She also does a great job of finding open teammates. Chastity Roberts (5-9, Sr.) will be a strong presence in the post position. She is able to set great screens and is a solid rebounder. Guard Presley Swindell (5-5, So.) is an outstanding defender that can guard three-point shooters as well as players driving to the hoop. Another solid defender is Emma Zaske (5-5, Jr.). She will also cause the opponents problems because of her ability to get steals. Abbi Avers (5-7, Sr.) does a great job of blocking out and rebounding, but she can also step out for an outside shot. She is an excellent leader and is always willing to help others. Other players to keep an eye out for are Bailey Ramsey (5-9, Fr.), Hailey Helfenbein (5-5, Jr.), and Trinity Clark (5-6, Sr.).
