Stillwater’s Griffyn Stoodley – Athlete Spotlight Presented by BancFirst Stillwater

Griffyn Stoodley has worked hard to get to where she is today. As an athlete she has spent a lot of time practicing and preparing for competitions. And as a student she has studied and worked to get solid grades. Through it all, Griffyn says that she has had an amazing support system that has always been there for her and helped her get to where she is today.

“I would have to say that my parents are my biggest role models,” she said. “They have always pushed me to excel in whatever I do. My biggest soccer influence is AD Franch who coached me early in my soccer career. Her drive and passion for the game had a big effect on me when I was young. She currently plays professionally for the Kansas City Current. My biggest support in the classroom would have to be Mrs. Hara because she has taught me that there are more important things in life than school and sports.”

Stoodley is a senior at Stillwater High School. She plays center midfielder as a member of the Lady Pioneers soccer team, a sport she has played for about 14 years. There has been a lot of success that Stoodley has experienced over her years of playing soccer and she attributes that to her preparation and training.

“I believe my success in soccer has mostly come from consistency in my training. Always getting touches on the ball, even in my off time, helped me so much. I have had some great moments over my career, but I would say the highlight of my high school soccer career was during my freshman year. I scored the winning penalty kick during a shootout and all my teammates rushed the field.”

When she is not playing soccer, Griffyn is the president of the Beta Club, marketing director for Stillwater Makes a Change (SMAC), HOSA member, Peer Partner, and National Technical Honor Society member. She also plays soccer on the ECRL team for Tulsa SC.

“I have played for Tulsa SC for four years. I would attribute much of my development as a player and a person to my coaches and teammates at Tulsa SC.”
