OFFENSE

While the Stroud Tigers may not have reached their ultimate goal last season, it was a step in the right direction compared to their 1-8 record from the 2020 season. Head coach Josh Presley says that his squad has a good amount of experience coming back and he is excited to see how the season goes. “We have several key players returning this year,” he said. “We return seven starters on offense and seven starters on defense. We look to keep building on last year’s success. We still will be young at several positions this year but they are very talented and have a great work ethic.” After an outstanding season a year ago, Dylan Baker (5-8, 150, So.) returns to play quarterback. He amassed 1,492 yards passing and added fourteen touchdown passes. Joining him in the backfield will be fullback Kason Presley (6-2, 200, So.) had 445 rushing yards and six scores and looks to make a bigger impact this season. Baker will also have a solid receiver this year in tight end Brady Nichols (6-0, 190, Jr.), who had 214 receiving yards and one touchdown last season. Working to keep Baker protected up front will be guard Stetson Bunyard (6-0, 210, Sr.), tackle Kyle Guest (6-0, 190, Sr.), and guard Devin Denton (5-8, 170, Sr.).

DEFENSE

On the defensive side of the ball, the Tigers want to be aggressive with the front seven and play fast. In the secondary, they want to try to never give up the big play and they want to make the opponent earn every yard they get. Bunyard and Guest will do their work on the defensive line, trying to get to the quarterback and disrupt the opposition. Behind the line, Denton, Nichols, and Presley will be at the linebacker positions. In the secondary, Baker will be watching and trying to keep the big plays to a minimum. Assistant coaches this season will be Tim Hinds, Rance Plunkett, and Jayson Cooper.
