OFFENSE

The Morrison Wildcats are looking for young talent to emerge in the 2022 season after replacing eight offensive seniors from the 2021 team. Although the core of this team will be young, coach Bales has high expectations for newcomers to make an impact on the field. First year quarterback Mason Shubbert (6-1, 170, So.) will take charge under center comforted by the fact that the Wildcats return three veteran leaders on the offensive line. Seniors Seth Dennis (5-10, 210, Sr.), Lawson Hearp (5-10, 235, Sr.), and Bryar Bailey (5-7, 225, Sr.) will be key to the Wildcats’ offensive scheme. Expect Morrison to line up in a Wing T formation and utilize their run game to set up play action opportunities. Brody Bailey (5-7, 165, So.) will be the lead back and looks to make an impact with his new opportunity while Nathan Waters (5-9, 185, Jr.) is poised to make more contributions this year following up his sophomore campaign which netted eight catches for 75 yards.

DEFENSE

The Wildcats will also be dealing with inexperience on the defensive side of the ball with only three returning starters, however, it’s hard to overlook the young talent on this team. Linebacker Brody Bailey hopes to follow up an impressive sophomore season in which he was credited with 75 tackles. “[Bailey] started at linebacker all season as a freshman and will be counted on to set the defensive front,” Bales said. Senior defensive lineman Bryar Bailey recorded 44 tackles while edge threat Seth Dennis picked up nine sacks in 2021. The two will look to provide veteran leadership in 2022 and set the tone for the rest of the defense. Defensive back Mason Shubbert (So.) had five interceptions and looks to have another successful campaign in 2022. Morrison tends to play zone coverage with multiple looks pre-snap but will primarily run a 4-4 formation to bring pressure and stop the run game.
