Woodland’s Aidan Rhodes: Top 100 Player Spotlight – Presented by Avem Health

Aidan Rhodes, a VYPE Top 100 athlete, had a fantastic year in 2021 and looks to do the same in 2022. Rhodes plays quarterback, defensive back, and handles punting duties for Woodland. Outside of football he also plays golf, and has been recognized as an all conference basketball and baseball player. However, Rhodes is a football player at heart, and a good one at that. Last season he accounted for over 2,600 yards and 37 touchdowns while leading the Cougars.

For Rhodes there are several keys to success.

“In my opinion a good football player is disciplined, hard working, and mentally tough,” Rhodes said.

Going into his senior season, Rhodes has big plans this fall for himself and the Cougars. The goal is to make a push deep into the playoffs.

“We want to go further than the quarter finals this year,” Rhodes said. “We have state championship aspirations.”

Rhodes and the Cougars have playoff experience, but want to make a run at the gold ball before things are all said and done. He recalled a moment from his time at Woodland which occurred in a previous playoff run.

“My favorite memory at Woodland would probably be coming back – down two touchdowns – against Gore within the final three minutes to advance to the quarter finals,” Rhodes said.

Rhodes believes in his coaches and knows they can get the most out of him and his teammates and is looking forward to this season.

“My coaches are great role models,” Rhodes said. “They are all hard working and always on task to be able to make us not only better players, but better men.”

After high school Rhodes plans to attend college to further his education and is hopeful he’ll be able to continue his playing career at the next level.
