Morrison Wildcats Boys Basketball Preview – Presented by Stillwater Medical Clinic of Morrison

Coach: Jared Griffin

21-22 Record: 23-5

Deep playoff runs have become a sort of custom for the Morrison Wildcats. But after losing experience to graduation last year, head coach Jared Griffin will look for some of his younger players to fill those positions. “The past few years we have had a lot of success making it to the state tournament with a special group of seniors that graduated last year,” he said. “This new group is going to play hard and I look forward to seeing some new guys step up on the offensive end.”

The team’s only starter that is back from last season’s team is Briggs Roe (Jr.). He is very active defensively and is athletic enough to get to the hole when he wants to. Roe will be a key player for the team this year. Mason Schubert (So.) is expected to have a big year scoring the basketball. He is just a sophomore but is very mature and played more and more toward the end of the Wildcat run to the state tournament last year.

Another player that will look to take on a bigger role on the team is Brendon Svobeda, who got better and better this summer. Playing in his final year of high school basketball, Seth Dennis (Sr.) is one of those kids that will do anything that is best for the team. He never complains about anything and works his butt off.

Some other Wildcats that will look to make contributions this season are Gavin Johnson (Sr.), Nick Zimmer (Jr.), Grahm Williams (Jr.), Jackson Baker (Jr.), Hunter Crenshaw (Jr.), Kasey Rupp (Jr.), Callen Veit (So.), Lucas Bowling (So.), and Coy Condit (Sr.). The team’s assistant coach is Braden Bales.
