Davenport’s Gage Keith – Presented by Thompson’s Insurance Agency

As an athlete at Davenport High School, Gage Keith knows that when he steps out to compete, he does it for more than just himself. He is also a representative of his school and his community and that is something that he does not take lightly.

“For me, it is a blessing to be able to wear that uniform that says ‘Davenport’ on them,” Keith said.

Keith is in his senior season at Davenport, where he plays quarterback and linebacker on the football field, while on the baseball diamond, he plays pitcher, outfield, and first base. Away from sports, he is also a member of the student council.

There has been a lot of time and effort put in by Gage so that he could become the player that he is today.

“Hard work, great coaches, and my parents are three big reasons why I am where I am today,” Keith said. “Seeing the success from working hard and knowing that there is still room to improve is something that keeps me motivated.”

Along with all the work and time, Gage has a group of people that have been key to his growth as an athlete, student, and person.

“I would have to say that the biggest role models in my life are my parents and coaches,” he said. “They push me to be the greatest player I can possibly be. A teacher that has impacted me is Mr. Case because he taught me that your team is your family and the closer your team is the more success you will have.”

Brett Case is the head baseball coach at Davenport and he says that Gage is an outstanding player and person.

“Gage is every coach’s dream,” Case said. “He doesn’t let little things bother him. He shows up to the field every day ready to get after and give you everything he has.

“Gage has had to fill many different roles in his four years of high school sports, but he doesn’t complain. He just puts his head down and works for his team.”
