Ponca City’s Jaxon Testa – Athlete Spotlight – Presented By Equity Bank

There are a lot of athletes that get their start in sports by playing little league baseball. It helps them work on hand-eye coordination and get a taste for competition.

Jaxon Testa is one of those that started in little league but he has stayed with the sport and still plays today as a senior at Ponca City High School.

“I started playing at the age of four because that was the earliest I could play,” Testa said. “I wanted to play because my brothers played it. I am passionate about baseball because I’ve played it for a long time, it is a big part of my life. Along with learning about the sport, I have also learned how to stay cool under pressure. I also enjoy making friendships that will last forever.”

There have been a couple of people that have had an influence on Testa’s life throughout his career.

“My biggest role model is my brother, Kaydon,” he said. “I look up to him because no matter how much life has put him through he always comes out better than before. Another is one of my teammate, Eli Wohl. He is a great leader and does everything right.”

Grant Middlebrooks, the head coach for the Ponca City baseball team, thinks Testa is going to have a solid final season playing high school baseball.

“Jaxon is due for a big year,” Middlebrooks said. “He is a senior leader and will be our number two on the bump. Jaxon is a kid who is very good defensively. The bat is consistent and will have a breakout year.”

During his life, people have given Testa many pieces of advice, but he has one that was given to him that stands out as his favorite and he still remembers it to this day.

“The best advice anyone has given me is to not listen to the outside noise and focus on yourself,” he said.

As a baseball player, Testa loves to watch major league baseball and he has a favorite player and it is someone that made a huge impact on the game.

“Jackie Robinson is my favorite player because he made an impact on the sport of baseball that will never be forgotten,” he said.
