Athletes have to do a lot of preparation to be ready to compete. The more work you put in the higher your chances are of being successful. Jayleen Trevizo says that there is a lot that has to be done in order to be your best. 

“There is a lot of hard work in order to be successful,” she said. “Mental toughness is another key thing you have to work on. If you are a part of a team, the team has to work together as one in order to reach the goals you all have set for yourselves.”

Trevizo is a sophomore at Blackwell High School. She is a cheerleader and a member of the basketball team. Jayleen has been involved with cheer for about ten years, while she has competed in basketball for five years.

Throughout her life, Trevizo has had different people that have impacted her life. She says one of the biggest influences on her life is someone that she is very close with. 

“My mom is the biggest role model in my life,” she said. “She has taught me to always be humble and to work hard for whatever goals I set for myself. I would not be the person I am today without her.”

Jayleen has sat through many classes during her educational career. And while she has learned a lot from many different teachers, she says that here are a couple of teachers that have made a difference in her life. 

“I have learned a lot from Mrs. Holt and Ms. Greer,” she said. “Not just lessons in school, but also things that I can carry for the rest of my life. They taught me to believe in myself and to always work hard in school.”

Trevizo has made a lot of memories throughout her career, but she says that there is one memory that stands out as her favorite.

“Winning NCA twice would have to be my favorite memory of cheer,” she said. “It is the biggest cheer competition and for our team to win it twice was an amazing experience.”
