When it comes to where you want to raise your child, choosing the community is just about as important as the school. The atmosphere around the town and the school will have an impact on the child as they grow. Lynna Clark says that she loves her town and the school system.
“I love Ponca City,” she stated. “The smaller community offers students the ability to participate in many activities such as sports or arts without having to be exclusive to one thing. The teachers are great at supporting students’ efforts in these areas. My daughter Kate is blessed to have teachers who challenge her to be the best she can.”
Clark and her husband have one child, Katelyn, who is a freshman at Ponca City High School. She is active in golf and as a member of the PO HI-Steppers drill team. She also serves as vice president of the Pepperette Service Organization.
Lynna, who graduated from Oklahoma Bible Academy, also played in sports. She was a member of the basketball team, cheer team, and dance team. Now she works for Mary Maddux with Edward Jones.
Whenever she has free time, she enjoys getting out and supporting her daughter.
“What free time?” Clark said jokingly. “I enjoy getting out to play some golf, but mostly I enjoy watching Kate participate in all her activities. Our family supports Kate by attending her activities and being supportive of her teammates as well. It truly does take a village. Learning to balance academics and activities is important and I feel she and her friends have a great support system.”
Wendy Landes, the golf coach at Ponca City, says that Clark is one of those parents that helps out whenever and however she can.
“Lynna is always available,” Landes said. “She serves on our Booster Club and is well-versed on the course. She makes golf a priority in season, and we are grateful for her.”
