Former Blackwell High School student Emmaleigh Scism is now a student and ROTC member at Oklahoma State University. Scism is going into her second year and OSU and is excited to continue with the ROTC program.
“I am going into my sophomore year at Oklahoma State University as an Animal Science Pre- Vet major. I am a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority,” said Scism. “As a freshman I served on the Retention Committee and First Year Experience Committee. So far, I have joined Banner Committee for this coming school year. I have been a part of the ROTC program for one year.”
Joining the ROTC program was an opportunity for Scism to challenge herself and do something that would add new experiences to her college career.
“ROTC has challenged me to leave my comfort zone to do things I would not have done otherwise,” said Scism. “After college, I would like to be a part of the Army Reserves Veterinarian Corps. I would advise any student interested in ROTC to go for it. I believe joining this program was one of the best decisions I have made thus far.”
As a student at OSU, Scism has worked hard to keep up with her grades and be involved in many activities that will help her succeed in life. All lessons she learned from someone close at home.
“My mother has been a big influence in my life. She has taught me to never settle for average, and instead to put in 110 percent in every area of my life,” said Scism.
