Perkins-Tryon Demons Boys Basketball Preview – Presented by Perkins Primary Care

Coach: Dylan Parker

21-22 Record: 21-7

Coming into the 2022-23 season, head coach Dylan Parker wants to build off the 21-win season from a year ago and help his program reach further into post-season play. “We have a really good chance to build on the success of last season. Bring back three starters, six of our top eight, and 75 percent of our scoring off of a team that made the area finals. We’ll have some players who will be taking on new roles but the guys making those adjustments have played a lot of minutes for us over the last two seasons. Our guard play will be the key to our season. We’ve got a bunch of seasoned veteran guards who I expect to lead us. Roll players made significant strides this summer but building quality depth behind those first six guys will be a focus early in the season,” said coach Parker.

Tucker Shepherd (6-3, Jr.) averaged 12 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game last season. Shepherd hit 42 percent from three-point- land and is one of the top shooters in Class 4A. Quincy Mouton (5-10, Jr.) averaged 7.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 2.0 steals as a sophomore. Mouton is a true point guard with elite vision, quickness, and speed according to coach Parker.

“Quincy has a great first step getting to the rim and elite at finding open teammates when he gets into the paint or in the open floor. The best on-ball defender I’ve ever coached, and I would argue he’s one of the top defensive players in 4A,” said coach Parker.

Dylan Davidson 6-0, Jr.) who averaged 11 points and 3.0 rebounds per contest. Davidson is a scrappy defender and an excellent shooter. After a solid summer, Davidson is expected to elevate his production and role on the team. Cutter Greene (6-2, Jr.) is another scorer coach Parker has on the roster. Greene averaged 9.0 points with 6.0 rebounds last year.

Other players to watch include Beck Smith (5-10, Jr.), Tre Stevenson (6-1, Jr.), Trey Myers (6-0, Sr.), Daniel Littlefield (6-2, Sr.), and Mason Stone (6-0, Sr.).
