Lane Thompson looks to dominate the baseball field this season. Lane is a sophomore at Frontier High School and he has been playing baseball since he was four years old. With his experience, Lane is able to play at any position on the field, but his main position is third base.
Lane first decided to pursue baseball out of enjoyment and interest in the sport. I wanted to play baseball because it sounded really fun and I wanted to try it out. All my friends decided to play so I did too. I fell in love with the game after that.”
His appreciation for the game and the community of people that he has found in the sport is the reason he has enjoyed baseball since he was young. “I have a lot of fun playing baseball and I love the sport. I enjoy being with my friends on the ball field.”
Because he values his baseball community, Lane strives to lead his teammates to success. “ I do my best to push my teammates to succeed and never stop. Even when we’re down I stay positive and keep pushing my team.”
Spending a majority of his life playing baseball has allowed Lane to learn many important lessons that he has carried with him throughout his athletic career. “The biggest lesson I have learned is to never stop trying to do great things. This game is all about mentality and hard work. You learn from your mistakes. Failure is the map to success.”
Lane shared some beneficial advice and words of encouragement to those who may want to play baseball in the future. “If you want to play baseball you need to know this game is hard. Don’t stop working for what you want, whether it’s a position or your first home run ball. Never give up on what you want most.”
