Coach: CASEY GOAD
7-5
OFFENSE
The seven-win season and trip to the second round of the playoffs last season has fueled this team to push for a bigger piece of pie at the Class A table. Head coach Casey Goad and his staff are focused and poised for an outstanding season. “We return seven starters on offense and eight on defense. Experience will be a great asset for us in addition to depth and athletic weapons on the field. We will continue to be one of the hardest working and physical teams in Class A football this year,” said coach Goad. A big reason for the confidence is the return of Jackson Rhodes (6-4, 190, Sr.) on both sides of the ball. The five-sport athlete will play tight end on offense giving quarterback Trey Bennett (6-4, 185, Jr.) a nice target downfield. Bennett makes the move from wide receiver to quarterback this season. Dray Long (5-7, 170, Jr.) and Abel Reyes (5-11, 185, Sr.) will handle the running back duties. Coach Goad said establishing the run is the top priority in their offense. When the ball goes up in the air, look for Chase Bowman (6-0, 170, Sr.) to be the main target. DK Kennedy (6-0, 240, Jr.) is the keystone to the offensive line.
DEFENSE
Rhodes could finish his high school career with more than 500 tackles to his credit. A four-year starter, Rhodes has led the team in tackles each season. Bennett will bounce to safety where he has started for two seasons. The combo of Rhodes and Bennett on the field is a nasty circumstance for opposing offenses. Add Abel Reyes (5-11, 185, Sr.) at end and you have a solid defense with finesse up front and hard-hitting linebackers in the back. Bowman adds stability to the secondary while Payton Rikkola (5-7, 175, Jr.) and Danner Lessert (5-7, 175, Jr.) bring intensity and quickness to the defensive line. Both guys love to mix it up and get after the quarterback. Also look for Lucky Heath who is a physical player the coaching staff is expecting to make a big leap in performance this season. The coaching staff consists of Kyle Rhodes, Sam Lockett, Mike Brock, and Scott Brown.
