Brianna Meyer is an all-star pitcher who understands how vital teamwork really is. A junior at Ponca City High School, this student’s focus aside from her schoolwork is softball. Not only does Brianna get to play her favorite position as pitcher – she truly excels in the position as well. In 2022 Brianna was named the pitcher for both the Big 7 All-Conference team and the 6A District Four team, two of her proudest achievements thus far. She thanks the sport for teaching her not only to work better as a teammate but also how to be a good leader as well.
Brianna works hard in the classroom as well and believes in always being to be the best she can be. She says her favorite teacher is Mr. McCrary, “because he helped me through a lot and is just an amazing person.” Brianna also wants to thank Jordy Bahl for being a great inspiration to her as a pitcher, saying that she strives to be just like her and appreciates how much emotion she shows. Brianna’s teammate Audrey Varner has also made a big impression on her, “she is always hyped up and can make anyone smile – she’s one of the best catchers I know,” and is proud of their partnership on the field. It’s not easy to build trust between a pitcher and catcher but their relationship shows it can be enjoyable.
The best advice she has ever gotten is from her father, who always reminds her to keep her head in the game and to keep her head up as well. Brianna would like to extend further thanks to her coach and parents for always believing in her and pushing her to play her best. Catch Brianna Meyer at the next Ponca City High School softball game and see her continue to excel as pitcher!
