PERRY LADY MAROONS
GIRLS
Coach: Carson Mathews
22-23- Record: 19-9
Not returning a single starter from a team that went 19-9 would normally be a unsettling thought for most coaches. However, coach Carson Mathews is optimistic the Lady Maroons will be fine coming into the new season. “No starters from last year’s team return but I have no doubt we will pick right back up where we left off last season. We have high expectations for our team this season. Senior Kennedy Hight makes her return to the hardwood after tearing her ACL last season. We also welcome a new face in Sarah Davison, who will have a huge impact on our teams success this year. Emery Halford, Bella Porter, and Alliyah Shrum will play huge roles for us this season. Looking to compete and make a deep run,” said Mathews.
Kennedy Hight (5-8, Sr.) will run the point giving the Maroons an active and athletic player at the position. Sarah Davison (5-9, Jr.) comes to Perry from Community Christian and is expected to play an important role in the overall success of the team. Two more junior guards, Emery Halford (5-6) and Trinity Cooper (5-7), are expected to help in the backcourt. A handful of sophomores will help piece the puzzle together. Bella Porter (5-10) will play the post, while Aliyah Shrum (5-5) and Libby Turner (5-5) are expected to play one of the guard spots. Brooklenn Moses (5-6) adds depth in the post while Serenity Beier (5-6), Aubrey Honeywell (5-5), and Myah McConnell (5-5) add depth at guard. Beier is considered one of the more athletic players in the gym who brings a positive attitude to the court every day. Ally Cellars (Fr.) is the new face on the team and is working at the guard spot. Other freshmen include Leeann Coleman (5-7, P), Emma Wosmek (5-5, G), and Amira Calhoun (5-5, G).
