Success is something that everyone strives to achieve, but not all are able to. It can take a great deal of work and dedication that not all are willing to give. Maddy Randall is a senior at Tonkawa High School. She says that you have to know who you are as an athlete.
“For me to be successful in my sports, it has taken a lot of hard work and motivation and being confident in my abilities.”
Milton plays both basketball and runs track at Tonkawa. She is also a member of the Student Council.
The teammates that Maddy competes alongside is a group that she is thankful for. She says that as a group they do a great job of supporting each other.
“I enjoy working against Addyson Branson in practice,” she said. “We push each other to make us both better but we can also have fun on the court together. I think that Chloe Anderson is the least appreciated on the team because she is always in the gym after practice and she works hard.”
The Tonkawa girls head basketball coach, Kelsey Smith, says that Randall is a solid member of the team.
“Maddy is an exceptionally hard worker and does things the right way,” Smith said. “She is great at encouraging and lifting up her teammates.”
Helping shape her into the athlete and person she is today has been a few different people in Maddy’s life.
“My biggest influence is my mom,” Randall said. “She showed me how not to give up when times get hard. The teacher with the biggest impact on my life is Mrs. Wecker because she always believed in me even when I would fail.”
Throughout her career, Randall has made a lot of memories on and off the court, but she says that there is one that stands out as her favorite.
“I think the highlight moment of my career so far would be when we beat Pawhuska for the district championship,” she recalled. “It was a great game and felt really good to get that win.”
