Avery Morphew
Yale High School
Only in her freshman year at Yale High School, Avery Morphew is a member of the FFA chapter at school and she competes with the cheer and basketball teams. Morphew joined the FFA chapter when she was in junior high thanks to the encouragement of a family member.
“I first got involved with FFA my 7th grade year of school. My older sister was in FFA all thru her high school years and she encouraged me to get involved,” said Morphew.
Being a member of the chapter has allowed Morphew to enjoy all of the activities and opportunities FFA has to offer including showing livestock.
“I enjoy FFA and all the activities we get to do like speech contests and conferences. I love to show sheep. I have a Hampshire Ewe and a Commercial Ewe that I will show this spring at our local and county shows. I also plan to take them to the Oklahoma Youth Expo,” said Morphew.
As a student-athlete at Yale High School, Morphew said she loves her teammates and representing her school in competitions.
“I love cheering on our team and showing school spirit,” said Morphew. “I love my teammates. We are all good friends, and we have fun together at practices and cheering on our Bulldogs.”
For Morphew, being a member of FFA is like being a member of a larger family. The freshman said anyone interested in FFA should give it a try.
“I would tell everyone to be in FFA. It teaches you responsibility and how to be a leader. I love my FFA class and teacher, Mr. Fuss,” said Morphew. “Mr. Fuss has been a big influence on my life because he pushes me to do better and work hard to reach my goals.”
While her high school graduation is still a few years away, Morphew is planning for her future now.
“After graduation I plan to go to college at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater,” said Morphew.
