Perkins basketball player Jace Myers recently spoke with VYPE.
VYPE: What are your personal goals for the year?
My personal goals are to contribute to the team when needed but honestly figure out how to improve for the years after this year seniors leave. Everybody thinks we will have a major drop off but I hope that we are able to produce a team that will not drop off but succeed after this year.
VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
The teammate that has left the biggest impression on me is my brother. He was the one that inspired me to play basketball, from playing outside in the driveway to being able to get the possibility to play together in high school basketball game.
VYPE: What is your favorite part of being on this team?
My favorite part of being on this team would have to be the ability to learn from the players ahead of me. Basketball isn’t one of those things that you won’t be good at unless you’re gifted. I believe if you are determined to succeed that you are the only person in the way.
VYPE: What has your sport taught you that you use in your daily life?
Basketball has taught me a lot of life lessons but the one with most importance in my opinion is perseverance, being to run the long race and push through adversity at the finish line when it matters most.
