One of the more difficult sports at the high school level is cheerleading. From the workouts to the tumbling, cheer works hard to not only perform, but to get you out of your seat and yell for your team.
Ryann Broom is a junior at Mannford High School and a member of the varsity cheer squad. Broom said the cheer team at MHS is a close-knit group.
“I love being able to provide spirit for such a close community. I love the bond I share with them and all the memories we have made together,” said Broom.
In her sixth year as a cheerleader, Broom has worked hard to be a leader on and off the field or tumbling mat. Her peers have voted for her to lead the team next season.
“My favorite memory as a cheerleader is getting captain for my upcoming senior year,” said Broom.
Next season is just around the corner and Broom said she is ready to help lead the team in her final year of high school.
“My team is looking very promising. We have a lot of new talent coming in,” said Broom.
But cheer is not her only activity. Broom is involved in several groups at school and is making plans for life after high school.
“I belong to Graphic Design at Central Tech, Spirit Club, and Gifted and Talented. I would like to pursue graphic design and work freelance. In my free time I plan to use my certification to be a human and animal rights activist,” said Broom.
Her drive and determination come from a close source.
“A big influence and inspiration in my life is my grandmother, she has taught me how to be passionate in everything I do and pursue my dreams to be a successful designer.”
Away from all the activities, Broom said she enjoys collecting vinyl records.
“In my free I collect vintage records. I prefer 1960’s and 1970’s pressed vinyl.”
