Cushing’s Linsey Reed – Athlete Spotlight – Presented By Cushing Family Practice

Cushing junior Linsey Reed plays in the outfield and catches for the Lady Tigers. This fallReed has been enjoying competing day in and day out. When it comes to being a good teammate or leader Reed knows that there are a few traits required to be successful.
“Being coachable! I think any good player needs to be able to take their coach’s advice and adjust, taking what they’re told and using it to make themselves better,” Reed said.
As for her favorite aspect of softball, Reed likes to score.
“My favorite part of the sport is scoring runs!” Reed said. “Whether it’s myself scoring, or an RBI, I love the hype it brings to the team when we put runs up on the board!”
As Reed is currently a junior she wants to see the Tigers make another appearance in the state tournament. Reed said the Lady Tigers making an appearance in the state tournament her freshman year was her favorite memory thus far into her career.
“When we made it to state last time I was just a freshman who didn’t have a spot on the field,” Reed said. “I want to make it back and be able to be on the field with my team, fighting for the state championship!”

Although at the time Reed had not yet earned a starting spot, she loved the experience and learned a lot from her teammates and upperclassmen. Now as an upperclassman herself, Reed wants to experience playing in the state tournament, and provide her own contributions. From a spectator’s perspective and as a passionate fan of softball Reed enjoys watching collegiate competition and the Women’s World Series. Reed often looks to the collegiate athletes for inspiration.
“I don’t have anyone specific,” Reed said. “But college players never fail to inspire me. Their determination and passion for the sport is awe-inspiring to me!”
Outside of athletics Reed works hard in the classroom. After high school Reed wants to continue her education in college.
“I plan to major in game design and animation and go into the game design field!”
