Throughout one’s life, there are people that help shape them into the person they will become. Paige Leverich has a couple of people that have helped her get to where she is today.
“My big sister Kyleigh is probably the biggest role model in my life,” she said. “Mainly because she has always pushed me to be my best in everything I do. A teacher that has been influential for me is Julie Plus. She has helped me grow into a young adult and to prepare for the future during my senior year.”
Paige is in her senior year at Cushing High School, where she plays center mid and defense for the soccer team.
It takes a lot to be successful and Leverich says that you have to stay focused and motivated in order to do so.
“For me to play at the level I do today, it has taken a lot of work,” she said. “You also have to be consistent and push yourself hard on the bad days. When I am having one of those tough days, I just remember that I want to make my parents proud of what I have been able to accomplish.”
When Paige and her teammates step out on the field to compete, they will play whoever is on the other side. But she says that there is one team that made the victory a little sweeter.
“My favorite team to beat is Ada,” she stated. “We lost to them my sophomore year and we were able to get redemption my senior and they were our first district win of the season. I have had some really good moments but I think the highlight of my career would have to be making it to the Class 3A state playoffs.”
Leverich has pride when she is wearing her team’s uniform. She says that she is thankful to be able to be a positive representative of her school.
“It means to be apart of something that is bigger than yourself and to always have a family beside you.”
