Coach: Jason Bray
21-22 Record: 14-8
The Tornadoes are ready to take on this new season head on. After ending last season with a 14-8 record, head coach Jason Bray likes the work that his team has put in and thinks they can have a solid season. “We played all sophomores last year,” Bray said. “We have had a good summer of work and we should take a good step forward in our development. We have good height, speed, and shooting, and with a couple of underclassmen, I think we will have better depth this season.”
Leading the team will be Joseph Bray (6-5, Jr.), who averaged 26.1 points, 11.1 rebounds, and 3.3 assists for the Tornadoes last season. He is the definition of a gym rat and is a very hard worker and a great teammate and leader. Also back this season is Bryson Kelley (6-1, Jr.). While he may not light up the stat sheet, he does all the small things that help his team win. He is an outstanding three-sport athlete for Drumright.
Guard Austin Mcentire (5-9, So.) is a new addition to the team for this season. He moved into the district from the Oklahoma City area, and he brings good court vision and defense to the squad. He worked alongside Bray and has put in a lot of work to be prepared for the season.
The duo of Cole Gregory (5-11, Jr.) and Jonathon Chavez (6-2, Jr.) will look to increase their contributions to the team this season. Last year they combined to average 14.2 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 2.3 steals, but after a summer that saw them put in a lot of work, they are expected to make a bigger impact. Taking care of things in the post position will be Jaxson Bolton (6-6, Jr.). He had a 7.2 point and 6.3 rebound average last year and will look to be a force on both ends of the court.
Other players to watch this season are Kevin Gooch (5-10, Jr.), Cooper Smith (6-1, So.), Tim Allen (6-0, Sr.), and Blane Snell (5-4, So.)
