Coach: CHRIS ELERICK
3-7
OFFENSE
New Drumright head coach Chris Elerick is fired up and ready to take on a tough B-7 schedule. “We’ve only been in Drumright for a few months, but after coaching for 23 years I can say without a doubt we have an opportunity to compete,” said Elerick. “I think we have the ability to be good, we just have a lot of learning to do; on both sides of the ball.” One name the Drumright faithful is excited to see return is Jaxson Bolton (6-4, 300, Sr.) at center. Bolton brings his physical style of play to the offense, something coach Elerick is excited to see. Bryson Kelley (6-2, 205, Sr.) will take the snap from Bolton at quarterback. Kelley has the size of a DI quarterback and is a workout machine in the gym. Kevin Gooch (5-11, 180, Sr.) is a hybrid type player who can run the ball and line up at wide receiver. Cole Gregory (6-0, 155, Sr.) is another deep ball threat on offense. Also look for Jaxon Mach (6-0, 160, Sr.) in the run game. Mach can be used in 11 or 12 personnel. The offensive philosophy for coach Elerick is win on third down and take what the defense gives you. That’s why Chase Blowers (5-9, 210, Sr.) could have a big season at tight end.
DEFENSE
Six starters are back on defense including Bolton who will start on the line and Blowers who can play a hybrid D-line/linebacker position. Bolton has offers from OBU and UCO. Gooch, Mach, and Gregory will start in the secondary with Kelley playing linebacker/defensive back, depending on what the offense is doing. Gooch is a high-energy guy the coaching staff has enjoyed having in spring ball. Coach Elerick wants to keep it simple on defense and force the opposing offense into mistakes.
