Cushing wrestler Cash Stapleton told VYPE about his life in a recent interview.

VYPE: What are your personal goals for the year?

My Personal goals for the year: My goal is to become a 2025 state champ. I have dreamed of becoming a High School state champ since I was very little. I continue to work hard towards this goal.

VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?

I would have to say my favorite memory would be the bus ride back from the 2023 State Tournament. Even though I did not place, the state tournament with my teammates was a blast. Once the tournament concluded, we loaded the bus and sat down to our own large pizzas and gallons of chocolate milk. We all completely stuffed ourselves and enjoyed the stories and company as we looked back on the season.

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?

My former teammate, Kaiser Simpson, left the biggest impact on me. Kaiser took me under his wing and always pushed me during practice. He never failed to set a good example for me and my teammates on and off the mat.

VYPE: What is your favorite part of being on this team?

My favorite part is by far the brotherhood that we share. During and even after the season we are always around one another.  The friendships I have on this team are some that will never be forgotten.  We are always doing something as a team, whether it be going to Braum’s after a tournament or watching the UFC fights at someone’s house. This is the closest team I have ever been a part of.

VYPE: What has your sport taught you that you use in your daily life?

Something that my sport has taught me that I use in daily life: Wrestling has taught me multiple things that I use daily, but my favorite is the work ethic that wrestling has bread into me. No matter what task I am doing I always work hard and never give up.

VYPE: What is the best advice that anyone has given you?

The best advice that I have received is that It is not about where you start, but where you finish. No matter where you are in life, as long as you are working toward a goal; you can never fail.

VYPE: Who inspires you and why?

In December of 2023 my close friend and previous teammate, Kyle Sams tragically passed away in a car accident. Kyle was always in a great mood and never failed to make everyone around him smile. Kyle’s memory inspires me to live every day to its fullest, smile through the hard times, and never miss a workout. #SMILELIKEKYLE

VYPE: Here is your chance to give a shoutout or say thank you to anyone you wish.

I would like to thank my family. They are always in my corner, have my back, and continuously push me to be the best version of myself that I can be.
