Ripley’s Carlee Mollet – North OK Athlete spotlight – Presented by Central rural Electric cooperative

By Ember McElrath

Senior at Ripley High School, Carlee Mollet, is not letting her last year of high school go to waste. She plays softball as a shortstop and outfielder, basketball as a point guard, runs relays, hurdles, and the 400 meter dash in track, as well as being a part of FCA as the president and FFA as the secretary.

“Sports have always been a huge part of my life,” said Carlee. “They have had a big impact on where I am today and have taught me so many life lessons that I can carry with me through college and life in general.”

Getting involved in her first sport at five years old she went from softball, then getting into basketball, and then joined track her freshman year of high school. Being involved in so many activities gives Carlee the great opportunity to work on her organization and focus.

“I try to stay dedicated to my school work so I can get it completed before focusing on other obligations,” said Carlee.

Playing sports has taught Carlee many things but one thing that it is constantly teaching her is how to make it through the tough times.

“There is always going to be adversity in every aspect of life and I have learned that from playing sports,” Carlee said. “I try not to let things get in my head but if they do I do things like workout and listen to music to clear my mind and focus on other things.”

Being a senior athlete and leader puts some healthy pressure on Carlee to be the best she can be.

“Knowing that people are looking up to me, especially young children, is something that makes me push harder to be the best I can be in everything I do and be a good Christian example,” Carlee said.

After high school Carlee plans to attend Oklahoma City University, play softball, and major in psychology.
