Coach: Terril Hankins
21-22 Record: 1-23
The Blackwell Maroons are coming off of a season that saw them register just one win. But they bring back experience and are looking for improvement this year. Head coach Terril Hankins is looking forward to this season. “We have our top six players back from last season,” coach Hankins stated. “I think we will start to turn the corner and get back to more consistent winning.”
Charlie Lux (5-11, Jr.) is a junior this season and will be a key player on the team. After averaging 10.0 points per game as a sophomore, he is poised to have an outstanding season. The leader of the team this season is going to be Warren Gerboth (6-5, Jr.). He is a rock and the glue that holds everything and everyone accountable. Drake Hankins (6-1, So.) is the coach’s son and an outstanding three-point shooter. He had a game last year with 24 points against Waynoka. Out of those 24 points, six were three-pointers. He looks to continue that scoring trend this season.
A player that started every game as a freshman at point guard was Kevin Rios (6-2, So.). He is also an outstanding defender. He will be impactful on both ends of the court this year. A member of the Maroons that does a lot of work with little recognition is Dorian Palma (5-10, So.). He was the sixth man on the team as a freshman. He is an undersized post but makes up for it with his quickness and the team flows better when he is on the floor.
