Anthony Wiley is a junior lineman at Blackwell and is always working to improve in any way he can. He first started playing on a team in junior high.
“I started in sixth grade,” Wiley said. “I wanted to try something
new, so I went for it.”
Ever since Wiley has stuck with it and his passion for the game has only grown. Wiley appreciates all the hard work his coaches and teammates put into their efforts on and off the field. Wiley knows there are a few key leadership characteristics that help both individuals and the team as a whole improve.
As the fall campaign is underway, Wiley wants to continue contributing to Blackwell in any way possible, but he is also focused on staying motivated and working hard in the classroom.
“My goal is to increase my GPA and become a better player overall,” Wiley said.
Wiley said his favorite athletic memory thus far into his career was getting
the opportunity to play in the state championship game as a freshman against
Prague.
When it comes to inspirational figures Wiley looks up to former Florida standout Tim Tebow.
“Tim Tebow is my biggest inspiration,” Wiley said. “For his leadership skills and dealing with adversity.”
Off the field Wiley stays motivated and has set goals for himself after high school. He eventually wants to share his love for the game with others, but is keeping his future options open with a few career paths in mind.
“I plan to go to college for a history degree,” Wiley said. “Then after that go to the military for three to four years, then become a teacher and football coach.”
