Blackwell’s Kingsley Goff – Blackwell Maroons Athlete spotlight – presented by stillwater medical blackwell

By Derrick Smith

Throughout the career of any athlete, there are moments that stand out. Moments that the athlete feels define their career. These could be individual accomplishments or team accomplishments. Kingsley Goff says that her highlight moment was when her team won a game that most did not believe they could.

“One of my favorite moments of my career would be from my sophomore year,” she said. “Everyone had picked Alva to beat us. Our entire student body showed up to that away game and the energy was electrifying. We upset Alva that game and the energy in the locker room is something I will remember forever.”

Goff is a senior at Blackwell High School, where she plays point guard for the basketball team and is a short-distance runner for the track team. Kingsley has played basketball for as long as she can remember, but she just started running track when she was in the seventh grade.

Throughout her life, Goff says that her grandfather, King Goff, has had the biggest impact on her life. “He has taught me many things, not only about sports but also about life,” she said. “He supports me in everything I set my mind to. One of my biggest role models in sports is Lebron James, he has an incredible work ethic and my love for basketball is something I am always striving to be like in everything I do. Another influence on my life has been Mr. Meador. He is one of the kindest people I have ever met. He has taught me to see things from other people’s perspectives and to always be kind.”

Along with athletics, Goff is also a member of the student council and is the publicity chairman this year. She is also involved in the pep club, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and serves on the student bank board. Kingsley already has her sights set on her goals after she graduates. “After high school, I will be attending Oral Roberts University,” she said. “I am going to pursue a degree in multimedia journalism and one day, I plan to work at ESPN.”
