Blackwell’s Reese Lambert – Basketball Spotlight – Presented by Stillwater Medical Center of Blackwell

Family can be an important part of anyone’s life and high school athletes are no exception. Their presence in the stands during a competition can give the athlete a big boost when they are playing. Reese Lambert says that her family has a big impact on her when she is competing.

“My parents are my biggest role models because they are always supportive and encourage me to keep improving,” she stated. “My family is also my biggest motivation when they come and watch me play.”

Lambert is a sophomore at Blackwell High School, where she is a member of the basketball team. She is also a member of the Student Council, Pep Club, and she serves as a football manager.

Throughout her career, Reese has seen her abilities grow and improve and she owes that to the time and dedication she has had to her sports.

“Being successful takes a lot of hard work,” she said. “In games, practice, and summer ball, you have to do the work. I have also taken the initiative to practice on my own outside of practice.”

Wearing the Blackwell uniform when she plays is something that Lambert does not take for granted and she says she is proud to be able to do.

“Wherever I am, I try to always do my best and represent my school well with good sportsmanship,” she said.

Reese’s teammates are a group that she says she is thankful to compete alongside. They have enjoyed some memorable moments together but there is one that stands out as her top one.

“I think my highlight moment would have to be making it to the second round of the Area Tournament,” she said. “I have some really great teammates too. Nora Jacobs is someone I like to go up against in practice because she pushes everyone to do their best. One of our underrated players is Azily Gonzales because she always goes one hundred percent but doesn’t always get playing time.”
