There is a lot of work and time that goes into being successful at anything in life. It is not something that just happens out of the blue, but it has to be earned. Athletes are no different, and Tayln Lute has put in the time to get where he is today.
“For me to be successful in sports it has taken hours of dedication in the classroom as well as on the court during practice and after hours,” he stated. “I am motivated the most by the challenges I face on the court and off of it as well.”
Lute is in his junior year at Blackwell High School, where he is a member of the Maroons’ basketball team. During his career, Lute has made a lot of memories on and off the court with his teammates, but he says that there is one moment in particular that stands out as his favorite.
“The highlight moment of my career so far was beating Luther High School in the regional tournament,” he said. “Also, anytime we beat Tonkawa is always fun because they are a solid team and considered one of our rival schools.”
Tayln has had people in his life that have had an influential role in his life. There are a couple that stand out for him.
“My biggest role model would be my brother Braydn,” he said. “He has always been like a father figure to me and helped me grow to be the person as well as the basketball player I am today. A teacher that has impacted me the most would be my coach Terril Hankins, mainly because he’s always someone I can count on as a coach and a mentor.”
Being able to wear the Maroons uniform is something that Tayln does not take lightly and he says he is proud to be able to do so.
“To be able to represent my school and community when I compete is one of the greatest honors one can have as a high school student.”
