Role models can play a big role in the life of a young person. Whether it is someone that is a part of their everyday life or someone that they observe from a distance, these role models can have a big impact on the young person. Kylee Ruff is a sophomore at Frontier High School and as a multi-sport athlete, she has a few people that are influences for her.

“For softball, Jennie Finch is my role model,” she stated. “The hard work and effort she shows is contagious. She has made me realize that your dreams can come true as long as you follow your dreams and work toward them. For basketball my biggest influence is my sister, Morgan Romero, I have been watching her play basketball ever since i was 3 and always wanted to be as good as her or maybe one day even better, I loved watching her play because of her competitiveness and the love she had for the game. And for track, my role model is Sydney McLaughlin, she is always making inspiring remarks on overcoming every obstacle and how she handles the pressure. One of my favorite things about her is her motto, ‘The only limit is myself.’”

No matter which sport she is playing, Kylee is always doing whatever she can to keep getting better and be successful.

“For me to get where I want to be, I have to be consistently putting in the work outside of practice, working on my skills, and maintaining a focus,” Ruff said. “I am a very competitive player and enjoy winning and learning, no matter who I am playing against the results of the game help me find out what I need to work on going forward.”

Along with all of the sports she competes in, Kylee is also a class officer, serving as the Reporter. She will also be joining the Frontier Inter-Tribal Youth Council this year.
