Becky Poet and her husband, Craig, have two sons. Charlie is a freshman at Oklahoma State University studying industrial engineering. Harrison is a sophomore at Ponca City High School, where he is on the tennis team, a member of the orchestra, and a student council representative.
She says that raising kids in Ponca City was a great choice and she enjoys how involved you can be to help make decisions and create progress.
“I think our community is great at supporting our local schools,” she said. “And I hope they continue to do so through numerous avenues including The Ponca City School Foundation, city tax dollars for buildings and maintenance, and booster club support. I know our schools are working to improve our academics every year.”
Being a high school parent of a kid in extracurricular activities, Becky knows that it is important for her to be at as many events as possible.
“I try to attend as many tennis meets as possible and orchestra events,” she said. “I really try to get out and show support to both of the programs. I am on the IMPA board and I do help with anything Tennis related if asked of me. I am a trustee of The Ponca City school foundation, which is a foundation to support our teachers academically and with extracurriculars by giving them grants for their classrooms.”
When she is not supporting her kids or Ponca City activities or events, Poet has a job of her own to do. But she knows how she likes to spend her downtime.
“I am a local real estate agent for Coldwell Banker Heritage Realtors,” she said. “Whenever I am able to get some downtime, I enjoy spending time and hanging out with my family, being outside, traveling, and attempting to play golf.”
