Coach: Jody Fincher
21-22 Record: 9-12
Last season was a tough one for Lady Wildcats, but they come into a new season with high hopes of making this season better and more memorable. Head coach Jody Fincher says that this team has potential and is looking to stay in the postseason for a while.
“With four starters back, we are excited about the upcoming season,” Fincher said. “With the addition of an athletic and deep freshman class, we will also be deeper than we have been in the last couple of years. Our lone senior, Emma Gertken, will be our floor general and has lettered the previous three seasons and will be an excellent player for us. We have an experienced group of juniors that have played a lot of minutes and will provide a ton of energy and athleticism.”
As the leader of the team, Emma Gertken (5-7, Sr.) is a three- level scorer who can handle the ball and direct traffic on both ends of the court. Her leadership on and off the court is invaluable for the team. She wants to succeed in everything she does as shown by her willingness to put in the extra time after practice and in the summer. Kyra Allison (5-8, Jr.) is a great athlete who has been working hard to hone her skills. She has unbelievable speed on the court and has a tremendous impact on both ends of the court.
Working hard to make a bigger impact this season is Kaytum Lively (5-5, So.). She is a team-first player that is always the hardest worker anywhere she goes. She strives to do her best in all she does and had a great freshman season for us off the bench. Bringing energy to the court is going to be Sarah Dingus (5-8, Jr.). As soon as she gets on the court, she turns on the juice and is all over the place diving for loose balls and defending to no end. Lanie George (5-9, Jr.) is a great role player for her team. She works hard, does right all the time, and is a great teammate.
Assistant coaches this season are Mica Estrada and Alan Monks.
