Ponca City’s Amanda Cain: Mom Spotlight – Presented by The Ponca City Real Estate Co.

Parents have a lot of responsibilities when it comes to raising their children. Amanda Cain enjoys her children being involved in extracurricular activities because of the extra things they learn besides just how to play the game.

“It’s important to prioritize your child’s schedule and events because sports is more than the practices and games,” she said. “They learn so many life lessons from sports. I also think it’s important because long after the days of games and rushing to and from practices and all that, your child will remember whose face was in the stands.”

Amanda graduated from Ponca City High School. During her time there, she played basketball and was on the swim team. Now her children attend the school that she attended.

“We have five children,” she said. “My oldest, Kobe, went into the Air Force after graduating high school and he now lives and works on the base in Wichita. Culley goes to college at Dakota College of Bottineau where he was on the basketball team. Roman entered the workforce after high school. Raecyn is a senior at Ponca City and plays basketball, while Carsyn is nine and plays basketball and soccer.”

Cain teaches middle school Science and Physical Education at First Lutheran in Ponca City. She coaches middle school girls basketball and in her free time she is either coaching basketball or watching Wildcat basketball. She also serves as the president of the POHI Tip Off Club. She has served on the board or been an active member since 2017.

As a former student and someone that now has kids in the school district, Amanda is proud to be part of a community that loves the school and the kids.

“I love that people in our town will get out and support the athletes,” she said. “People who may have not had kids in the district for decades still come out to cheer the kids on.”
