Ponca City’s Bri Meyer – Athlete Spotlight – Presented By Tom Henley of Shelter Insurance

Sophomore Brianna Meyer makes an impact all over the field for the Ponca City Wildcats’ softball team as she can pitch, play first base, and is no slouch at the plate.
Head coach of the Wildcats, Jeneva Wilson, speaks highly of Meyer’s work ethic and impact on the team both on and off the field.

“Bri is our starting pitcher most days. She is great at spinning the ball and hitting her spots,” Wilson said. “She can hit the ball more solid than most and she never asks for praise but deserves the most. She is a great kid with so much talent and as only a sophomore she is already a leader on and off the field.”

Meyer has already helped Ponca City improve on their record from a year ago as they currently sit at 17-9. For Meyer, the key to being successful in softball and a contributing member of the team is simple, have a strong work ethic and be willing
to lead. Meyer has been playing softball for a long time and has seen her own hard work pay off.

“I started playing softball when I was around six years old,” Meyer said. “My sister inspired me to play softball because I wanted to be just like my big sister.”

As the season continues Meyer has set some goals for herself that she is working toward in both academics and athletics.

“My goal is to just focus on getting good grades and working hard in softball,” Meyer said.

Meyer is thankful for the support she has received from her friends and family over the years.

“My dad is definitely one of my biggest supporters and role models,” Meyer said. “He always pushes me to be the best I can be and has been there for me every step of the way.”

Outside of competing on the diamond, Meyer also appreciates the camaraderie and relationships she has been able to form with her teammates.

“My favorite memories are the bus rides back and forth from the games,” Meyer said.
