Ponca City’s Emma Bartley – Athlete Spotlight – Presented By Tom Henley of Shelter Insurance

Emma Bartley is the lone senior on the Ponca City girls’ golf team. Bartley has been golfing for eight years but returned to high school competition after taking a break since her freshman season.

“Emma is laidback on the course,” coach Wendy Landes said. “She doesn’t let things get to her. She is my only senior, so she is looked up to by my younger girls. She is a great leader and person. She is going to be missed next season.”

Returning to the golf course for her senior year had a lot to do with Coach Landes who is entering her third season as head coach.

“Coach Landes is really active with us and is a great coach,” Bartley said. “She’s very nice and does a lot of things that she really doesn’t have to do for us. She never brings us down and is always positive.”

When Bartley isn’t on the golf course, she’s high stepping on the high school dance team or playing the violin with the high school symphony orchestra. Bartley has been dancing for 11 years and was a part of the dance team that won nationals her freshman year. She’s been playing the violin for eight years.

Bartley is also involved in National Honor Society and carries a 4.0 GPA. Upon graduation, Bartley plans to attend Oklahoma State University to major in interior design. Once she sets foot in Stillwater, Bartley will be the third generation in her family to attend OSU.

Bartley credits her parents, Keri and Chris, for her success on and off the golf course.

“My parents have been willing to invest in everything I’ve wanted to do, and they’ve always encouraged me to keep moving forward,” Bartley said. “They taught me that I can do a lot of things that I never thought were possible and have just supported me my entire life.”
