Lorissa Jansma is a mother of two students who attend Ponca City High School. Daughter Kianna is a senior and a member of the Po-Hi girls golf team, while son Ty is a sophomore and participates in the non-school affiliated Po-Hi fishing team. Lorissa said volunteering for their activities is very rewarding.
“I am always there to help and support coach Landes when she needs it. In the past I helped with snacks, I have also helped in transporting athletes. I really put forth all efforts in the fundraising aspect for both of my kids sports because that helps the programs out tremendously. I enjoy photography as a hobby, so I take pictures at the tournaments of the golf team for local promotion within the community,” Lorissa said. “I would say the most rewarding part of volunteering is being able to be there for my kids and their teams. I enjoy watching them improve, grow, and succeed in the sports they love.”
The community of Ponca City is very supportive of the high school students and athletes. A fact that never gets lost on the Jansma family.
“Our community in Ponca City is just great! It’s extremely supportive, and not just supportive of the school system/school-related activities, but of all aspects within our community,” said Lorissa. “I do work in a professional office that is supportive in letting me have the time off to go watch and cheer on my kids and their teams.”
In her free time Lorissa likes to keep busy with a lot of activities around the house and around town.
“I enjoy gardening, cooking, camping, photography, various craft projects, genealogy research, exploring museums and animal husbandry,” said Lorissa.
