Taylor Hurd

Varsity fastpitch softball player and FFA member, Taylor Hurd, is a senior this year and
plans to attend Wichita State University next year to study pre-dental hygiene. Hurd has
been a valuable member of both the softball team and the FFA chapter at Ponca City High
School.
“My team is filled with talent, and I am beyond proud of each and every one of my
teammates and I’m going to miss them all very much. I also hope the program improves for
all of them,” said Hurd. “I absolutely love the game of softball and the emotions and feelings
you get during the game. I enjoyed playing with all of my teammates and pushing them to
be better.”

Hurd joined FFA when she was a freshman, thanks to the encouragement of a teacher.
“Mr. Frazier encouraged me to join FFA and to show an animal. I have showed goats all four
years so far and this year I am our chapters secretary. You don’t have to be country to join
FFA you can be a total city kid and still join. Mr. Frazier will take excellent care of you and
will teach you everything you need to know,” said Hurd.
Hurd also mentioned how much she has enjoyed the petting zoos the FFA chapters hosts
for young kids.
Hurd said there are several people who have influenced her life.
“My parents have been a huge influence in my life by helping me achieve all of my goals,
showing me right from wrong, and all of their support all the way around. Another person
who has been a big influence in my life is Callie Price. She pushes me to be a better person
and to achieve all of my goals as well as showing me that hard work pays off,” said Hurd.
