VYPE: What is the best advice that anyone has given you?
Bostyn: The best advice that I have read was from Kobe Bryant. My brother told me this last year and it has stuck with me to this day. It says “The moment you give up is the moment you let someone else win.” I use this in my everyday life from practices to games. It keeps me focused and concentrated, to never give up and let someone take what you could have.
VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
Bostyn: One player that has left an impression on me was a girl from my AAU team. She helped me become the player I am today. She is a freshman in college now at New Mexico Junior College. Everyone doubted her and told her she wouldn’t make it and she did. She made the team and received a scholarship. She’s an amazing person all around and is a great basketball player.
VYPE: What is your favorite part about being on a team?
Bostyn: Working as a team and being a team player. Being able to work together and get along very well.
VYPE: Why are you passionate about your sport?
Bostyn: I’ve always had a love for basketball ever since I was little and stayed very determined to be successful.
VYPE: What has your sport taught you that you use in your daily life?
Bostyn: Basketball has taught me how to achieve my goals and never give up.
VYPE: When and how did you first get into playing your sport?
Bostyn: I got into sports ever since I could walk. I’ve played basketball my whole life, and a little bit of softball until about my freshman year. My family is full of athletes, especially my aunt, who received a full scholarship to play at OU.
VYPE: What has been your favorite memory of playing?
Bostyn: My favorite memory from basketball is last season during districts we won against Hennessey by seven points and got to go to the next round. It was very exciting and a good feeling too. We played hard and played as a team, which is why we won.
VYPE: Who inspires you and why?
Bostyn: One person who inspires me is my brother, Gage. He helps me with everything from basketball to life. He sets a good example for me to never give up and to keep pushing.
VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation, where do you go and who do you take with you?
Bostyn: If I could go anywhere it would be Paris, France. I’ve always loved and dreamed of going to Paris ever since I was 10. I would take my sister with me, so she can experience it as well. Plus, she’s my best friend.
