Q&A with Tonkawa’s Roman Chandler – Presented By Cowley College

VYPE: What did you enjoy most about your senior year?

Roman: I enjoyed playing with teammates for the last time and enjoyed all the memories that you experience as a senior.

VYPE: What has your sport taught you that you use in your daily life?

Roman: Football and track has made me be a hard worker and pushed me to work for what I wanted to achieve. Also more importantly, I’ve grown in my faith with God and knowing that he has blessed me in so many ways.

VYPE: Who was your favorite teacher from any grade and why?

Roman: My favorite teacher was probably my 7th grade history teacher, Mr Hawley. He is a great man and he inspired me in many ways. He’s also definitely a sports legend.

VYPE: Who inspires you and why?

Roman: My mom inspires me, she is a strong woman and has always kept her faith in God no matter what. She has helped make me who I am today.

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?

Roman: One teammate I had who left a big impression on me was Kai Day. He was a senior my junior year. He inspired me by just giving it his all no matter what. No matter how bruised up he may have been, he always gave 110 percent, always. He was a straight dawg.

VYPE: What was your favorite part about being on a team?

Roman: My favorite part about being on a team is the bonds that you make. You get to know everyone on the team and you all go through everything together. Every win, every loss, every drill. That bond and closeness will always be something special about sports.

VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation, where do you go and who do you take with you?

Roman: If I could go on a summer trip anywhere, I would go to Dubai or something like that. All the pictures I’ve seen look amazing. I would probably just take my family with me.

VYPE: Why are you passionate about your sport?

Roman: I am passionate about football and track because they are the talents God has blessed me with. God gave me this ability in these sports to be a light for him and that is all that matters.

VYPE: Here is your chance to say hello, goodbye or thank you to anyone you wish. Roman: I’d like to end with saying, thank you to all the coaches I have had and thank you to the town of Tonkawa for all the support and love the last two years. I am very grateful to have been a Buccaneer.
