Blackwell Football Spotlight: Peyton Lenon – Presented by BancFirst

By Derrick Smith

Success is something that requires a lot of work, it is not just handed to you. This goes for work life, family life, and any other venture out there. It also is the same for athletics. No matter what level you compete at or what sport you play, you have to be willing to put in the time and effort if you want to be your best.

Peyton Lenon is a senior at Blackwell High School. He is a member of the Maroon’s football and track teams. He says that he has put in a lot of work to get where he is but he knows that the hard work will pay off.

“In order to be successful, you have to put in the effort,” he said. “You also have to be mentally tough and have a willingness to be coachable.”

Lenon plays at left guard on the football field, while on the track he throws the shot put and discus. Though he has put a lot of work in over his career, he also knows that there are those that have been there to help him and have also served as role models for him to look up to.

“My friends and family are a big part of my success in sports,” he stated. “They have always been in my corner cheering me on. Another person that I look up to is Peyton Manning. I look up to him as a role model because he never quit even when the time got tough.”

During the span of his career, Peyton has enjoyed some great moments both on the field and on the track. But he says that out of all of those, there is one that stands out as his favorite.

“The highlight of my career would have to be getting eight pancake blocks in one game,” he said. “I was a great feeling to be able to accomplish that and know that it helped my team.”
