Blackwell Softball Spotlight: Malarie Mies – Presented by BancFirst

She has some strong role models in her life starting with her mom.

“She is definitely my biggest role model because she always strives and achieves everything she plans to,” said Malarie.

Additionally, she has an older stepsister that she watched play in Tonkawa and has been a follower of OSU and OU softball. In fact, Sooner standout Jocelyn Alo, the MVP of this year’s Women’s’ College World Series, is a person that Malarie says she likes to follow on social media because she always posts inspirational and motivating messages. Malarie is a versatile player according to her coach.

“She pitched for us a little in the spring, we might use her at first base or third base as well.”

It’s the third base position that is the most competitive for Malarie.

“There are a couple of teammates that I battle with the most in practice, Brooklyn and Reese, because they also play third so we’re always competing for the spot,” said Mies who is also active in the pep club and is a manager for the basketball team.

Malarie says she is motivated by her family and friends and her desire to play softball at the next level when the time comes. In addition to getting back to softball this year, Malarie says she plans to play for the golf team this coming year.
