Following a trip to the area tournament last year, Cleveland returns everyone and that makes head coach Daniel Brimmer think the Cleveland Tigers can go even further. “We return everyone from an area team last year, including the Tulsa 7 Conference player of the year. We should have good size inside and out with a handful of guards that can handle the ball and shoot as well. Our tough conference schedule should prepare us for the playoffs,” says Brimmer. Kyler Kauk (5-11, Sr.) is the returning conference player of the year. He averaged 14.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 3.0 steals per game last year. Kauk was also named to the VYPE Top 100 this season. A couple of other seniors returning are Christian Buerker (6-4, Sr.) and Shain Hamilton (5-9, Sr.). Buerker averaged 11.0 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 2.0 steals per game last year while Hamilton averaged 12.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.0 steals per game. A couple of other returning guards are Hunter Sizemore (5-8, Sr.) and Kylen Thoma (5-9, Sr.). Dylan Baker (6-2, Jr.) is a returning forward that averaged 5.0 points and 5.0 rebounds per game last year but Brimmer says Baker’s contributions go beyond the stats. Another junior expected to make a leap is Josh McEntire (6-4, Jr.). The guard averaged 5.0 points and 4.0 rebounds per game last year. An underclassman expected to contribute this year is Dray Curtis (5-7, So.). 

GIRLS
Coach: Clay Stephens
20-21 Record: 16-6

Cleveland head coach Clay Stephens knows this year’s senior class will determine the course of the Lady Tigers. “We have three seniors that are returning starters,” says Stephens. “They are solid all-around players and we will go as far as those seniors take us.” Bailey Layman (5-6, Sr.) is the team’s leader. She averaged 18.0 points per game last year and was named the MVP of the conference last season. Layman was also named to the VYPE Top 100 this season. Tristan Field (5-6, Sr.) is a versatile player that can play guard and forward. Brooklyn McNac (5-10, Sr.) is another returner that Stephens says is a vital part of the team. “Brooklyn does all of the little things that don’t show up on the stat sheet,” says Stephens. A couple of other players expected to play key roles for the Lady Tigers are Hattie Frazier (Jr.), Reagan Coffey (So.), Baylea Stigler (So.), and Kenly Kauk (So.).
