Cushing Tigers Basketball Preview – Presented By Cushing Family Practice

BOYS
Coach: Jontue Ezell
20-21 Record: 4-8

After a handful of seasons at the helm of the Cushing boys’ basketball program, head coach Jontue Ezell is excited to see this young, but talented team play a full season. “This year’s team will be young but fun to watch,” said coach Ezell. “We should be able to defend with aggression and score from many areas of the court.” VYPE Top 100 selectee Camden Crooks (6-0, Jr.) returns as the team’s leading point getter. Crooks averaged 12 points a game and is a physical guard. He can pressure the rim and is tough to deal with in the backcourt. Lane Yaunt (6-3, Jr.) will likely start at forward where he averaged 4.0 points a game last season. He is a long and athletic player who can defend and crash the boards. Matt Grossenheider (5-11, Jr.) did not play last season, but coach Ezell said he brings athleticism and a good shooting touch to the floor. Trevin Ezell (5-9, So.) has the ability to score in many different ways for Cushing. Expect to see a big jump in his production this season. John Hilligoss (5-10, So.) is another underclassman coach Ezell is looking to for quality minutes this year. Hilligoss has a good feel for the game and a high basketball IQ. Also look for Logan Spradlin who coach Ezell calls a “team-first guy, all the way.”
