Depew Lady Hornets Basketball Preview – Presented By Cushing Family Practice

GIRLS
Coach: Jacob Russell
20-21 Record: 12-12

Head coach Jacob Russell returns the nucleus of a team that won 12 games last season. With another year of experience under their belts, the Lady Hornets are looking to make some noise. “We return four starters from last year’s team. We were young last year,” said coach Russell. “We will be more experienced and deeper on the bench than last year.” Macey Wilkerson (5-4, Sr.) will return to play the point where she averaged 14.6 points, 5.4 rebounds, 6.2 assists and 3.3 steals per game. Wilkerson is fearless and can score from anywhere on the court. Lauren Carrie (5-7, So.) is back at shooting guard where she averaged 6.5 points as a freshman. Add Kady Rodman (5-7, Jr.) at power forward and you have solid trio. Rodman averaged 12.6 points and 6.5 rebounds, living up to her name. But the talent does not stop there. Lillian Thatcher (5-8, Jr.) will likely play the post. As a sophomore she averaged 6.2 points and 5.1 rebounds a game. Kaycee McSpadden (5-2, Sr.) and Katrina Ash (5-9, So.) are key role players coach Russell will utilize in certain situations. Also look for Morgan Steele (5-5, So.) who brings a ton of energy and is always looking to make a stop on defense. Sam Peeler (5-7, So.) is a solid rebounder and returns after missing last season.
