Depew’s Tyler Burdick – Athlete Spotlight Presented by Cushing Family Practice

A sophomore at Depew High School, Tyler Burdick, is a true multi-sport athlete for the Hornets. He is a pitcher and shortstop in baseball (having played 12 years), point guard in basketball (eight years), and quarterback in football (11 years).

Having competed in his sports for such an impressive amount of time, Burdick surely has many great memories to look back on. His favorite, however, is an easy one to recall.

“My first strike out has a high school pitcher,” he said of his stand out moment.

Burdick says that his biggest role model is his mother. He says he has also learned valuable lessons like how to appreciate and enjoy his high school career from his math teacher, Mrs. Parrick.

Although he keeps a busy schedule juggling his academics and three sports, Burdick is also involved in Ag and FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes). When he does find free time, he says he loves to spend it with his family and friends.

If you ask Burdick what the key to success is in athletics, he has a concise answer that rings true for any athlete – “Hard work and the ability to play through tough times.”
