OFFENSE
The Ponies are coming into the 2022 football campaign ready to put last season’s 1-9 record behind them and start fresh. Head coach Jim Cherry says that he is ready to get the season started. “We are excited about the upcoming season,” he said. “We have several skill players and also a solid front line.” Starting at quarterback this season will be Connor Norris (5-10, 175, Sr.). Jaustin Miles (6-2, 175, Sr.) is back at receiver after thirty-seven catches and ten touchdowns last season. He will be joined by Nathan Stubblefield (5- 11, 170, Sr.), who can play at either the wide receiver or running back position. Last season, he had a 200- plus rushing yards game along with 100 receiving yards. Cody Barnes (5-9, 190, Sr.) will be at running back and looking to make big strides in the running game. Melvin Wise (6-3, 250, Sr.) and Landon Powers (5-11, 220, Sr.) will maintain order on the offensive line.
DEFENSE
The defense of the Ponies will start up front on the defensive line, where they have a trio of solid athletes. Cade Enlow (6-3, 375, Sr.), Tanner Battenfield (Sr.), and Jackson Steeley (5-10, 240, Sr.) will work to wreak havoc on the opponent and disrupt their flow. Linebacker Camoron Robertson (6-0, 180, Sr.) will be ready for whatever the opposing offense throws his way. In the secondary, defensive backs, Cayden Ayres (5-8, 160, Sr.) and Ian Anderson (5-10, 160, Sr.) will work to keep the big plays to a minimum. Assistant coaches this year are Brandan Rosa, Ken Zachary, Shawn Thornbrue, Adam Pinkerton, and Troy Witzansky.
